Global Sikh Council:
MISSION:
The Global Sikh Council (GSC), Voice of the Sikhs worldwide, was established in 2014 with the primary goal of representing Sikhs and Sikh Institutions to governmental and non-governmental entities worldwide. This includes advocating for Sikh interests and perspectives at national and international levels, including participation in interfaith organizations. Individual country member organizations are considered the council’s most valuable assets.

OBJECTIVES:
Representation: Act as the unified voice of Sikhs globally, advocating for their rights, interests, and concerns to various governmental and non-governmental organizations and agencies, including international and interfaith organizations and groups on various platforms and forums.
Advocacy: Advocate for policies, legislation, and initiatives that uphold Sikh values, principles, and rights while also addressing issues of social justice, equality, and human rights.
Community Empowerment: Empower Sikh communities worldwide through education, capacity building, and resource mobilization, fostering their socio-economic development and well-being.
Preservation of Sikh Heritage: Preserve and promote Sikh heritage, culture, and traditions, ensuring their preservation and transmission to future generations.

Scope and Responsibilities:
Board members are expected to demonstrate commitment, integrity, and leadership in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities. Participation in GSC activities must be among their highest priority activities.
The Board of Directors of the Global Sikh Council plays a pivotal role in providing strategic direction, governance, and monitoring to the organization.
Strategic Leadership: Participate in setting the strategic direction and goals of the organization in alignment with its mission. Strengthen the Voice of Sikh worldwide by recruiting additional members.
Governance and Monitoring: Provide governance monitoring, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and fiduciary responsibilities.

Financial Stewardship: Oversee financial matters, including budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring the organization’s financial stability and sustainability.
Advocacy and Representation: Advocate for the interests and concerns of Sikh communities globally, representing the organization in various forums and engagements.
Partnerships and Collaboration: Foster partnerships and collaboration with other Sikh organizations who share GSC Vision and mission, interfaith groups, governmental bodies, and NGOs to advance shared objectives and address common challenges.
Resource Mobilization: Support fundraising efforts and contribute to developing sustainable resource mobilization strategies to support the organization’s activities and initiatives.
Promotion of Sikh Values: Promote Sikh values, principles, and teachings, fostering understanding, tolerance, and respect among Sikhs globally and diverse communities.
Community Engagement: Engage with Sikh communities worldwide, listening to their needs, aspirations, and concerns, and ensuring their voices are represented in the organization’s decision-making processes.

Qualifications and Requirements:
To serve effectively as a Board Member of the Global Sikh Council, individuals should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
