17/18 ਮਈ, 2023 ਨੂੰ (“ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮੀਟ ਖਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟਤਾ” ‘ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਵੈਬੀਨਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਏ ਸੁਝਾਅ::
ਸੈਸ਼ਨ 1 ਅਤੇ 2
1. ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ “ਮਾਸ” (ਜਾਨਵਰ ਮਾਸ) ਅਤੇ “ਸਾਗ” (ਪੌਦੇ ਅਧਾਰਤ ਭੋਜਨ) ਵਿੱਚ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮਾਨਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜਾਨਵਰ ਅਤੇ ਪੌਦੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸਜੀਵ ਹਨ। ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
2. ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ “ਨਾਮ”) ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ।
3. ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਾਅ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਲਈ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
4. ਮਾਸ ਖਾਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਨਾ ਖਾਣਾ,ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਆਤਮਿਕਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ । ਇਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਸਿਹਤ, ਰਹਿਣ-ਸਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੈਲੀ, ਸਮਾਜ ਜਾਂ ਭੂਗੋਲਿਕ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਜਾਂ ਆਹਾਰ-ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀ ਹੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਮਾਸ ਖਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ।
5. ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਤੇ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਾਸ ਖਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਤੇ ਵੀ ਇਹ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਖਾਸ ਫਲ/ਸਬਜ਼ੀ/ਅਨਾਜ ਜਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
6. ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਜਾਂ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
7. ਭੋਜਨ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਇਸ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਸਥਾਨ, ਜਲਵਾਯੂ/ਉਪਲਬਧਤਾ/ਭੂਗੋਲਿਕ ਸਥਿਤੀ/ਮੌਸਮ/ਸਥਿਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
8. ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਲੀ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਨਿਖੇਧੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਇਹ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ “ਹਲਾਲ/ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ” ਜਾਂ “ਬਲੀ” ਹੋਵੇ। ਸਿੱਖ ਰਹਿਤ ਮਰਿਯਾਦਾ ਜਦੋਂ “ਕੁੱਠਾ” ਮਾਸ ਖਾਣ ਦੀ ਮਨਾਹੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਇਸਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ‘ਤੇ ਬਲੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਨਵਰ “ਹਲਾਲ” ਜਾਂ “ਬਲੀ”।
9. ਸਾਡਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਹੀਂ/ਲੱਸੀ/ਅਚਾਰ ਆਦਿ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਰੋਗਾਣੂਆਂ / ਜੀਵਾਣੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਰੋਗਾਣੂ / ਜੀਵਾਣੂ ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਬੈਕਟੀਰੀਆ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜੀਵਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀਬੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
10. ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕੇਵਲ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਹੀ ਮਾਸ ਖਾਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਓ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ‘ਤੇ ਚੱਲੀਏ ਅਤੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ‘ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਜਾਂ ਝਗੜਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਾ ਕਰੀਏ।

Session 1 & 2
1. Gurbani has clearly stated that there is similarity in terms of life between “Meat” (animal flesh) and “Saag” (plant based food). Both animals and plants are living beings. Modern Science also confirms this fact.
2. Gurbani does mention the kind of food our mind needs (i.e., “Naam”). It does not mention the choice of food needed by our body.
3. Gurbani also mentions that all living beings consume or eat living beings for their survival.
4. Eating or not eating meat does not concern spirituality. It relates to one’s health, living style, society, or geographic location, where one lives. Only a doctor or dietician can advise if one should eat meat or not.
5. Gurbani does not mention anywhere, whether one should eat meat or not. Similarly, Gurbani nowhere mentions that one should eat or not eat a particular fruit/vegetable/grain or any other edible.
6. Gurbani does mention that one can eat any food that does not cause any harm to one’s body or one’s mind.
7. Food choice on any location of this planet depends upon climate/availability/geographical location/season/situation.
8. Gurbani has clearly condemned sacrificing animals in the name of religion, be it “Halal/Qurbani” or “Bali” in religious rituals. Sikh Rehat Maryda when it prohibits eating “Kutha” meat, it actually means animal sacrificed in the name of religion “Halal” or “Bali.”
9. Our body takes or eats millions of microbes everyday in the form of fermented food, like yogurt/Buttermilk/Pickles etc. These microbes are nothing but bacteria which are classified as living beings as per science.
10. As per Gurbani only the ignorant create controversy about eating are not eating meat. Let us follow the message of Gurbani and not create controversy on the choice of food.
