Statement from the President of the Global Sikh Council on the Pahalgam Terror Attack
We are deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of at least 28 innocent individuals, including a young Indian Navy officer, Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was on his honeymoon. This senseless act of violence against civilians, including tourists, is a grave violation of human dignity and peace.
This painful and horrific incident has brought back memories of the Chitti Singhpura incident happened in March 2000 in which 35 Sikhs were killed. This has once again ashamed the humanity and broke the hearts.
The Global Sikh Council strongly condemns this brutal attack and stands in full solidarity with the victims and their families. We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to all those affected by this tragedy.
As Sikhs, we are guided by the eternal message of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, which teaches the oneness of all humanity and the divine light within every soul. In the sacred words of our Gurus:
ਅਵਲਿ ਅਲਹ ਨੂਰੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਬੰਦੇ ||
ਏਕ ਨੂਰ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਕਉਨ ਭਲੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਦੇ ||
(Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 1349)
These divine words remind us that all human beings are created from the same Light—no one is higher or lower. This Shabad calls on us to recognize the unity of mankind and to reject hatred, division, and violence.
While we appeal to the administration to immediately investigate this attack and ensure justice is served, we also demand justice for the incident that took place in Chitti Singhpura in March 2000. The truth of these incidents must come out before everyone and justice must be done to the victims. Let us all communities and religions stand together – let us create peace, dignity and compassion for all.
May the Almighty grant peace to the departed souls and strength to their loved ones to live in peace.
ਪਹਿਲਗਾਮ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਹਮਲੇ ‘ਤੇ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵਾ
ਅਸੀਂ ਜੰਮੂ-ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲਗਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਏ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਹਮਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਚਿੰਤਤ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ 26 ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਜਲ ਸੈਨਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ, ਲੈਫਟੀਨੈਂਟ ਵਿਨੈ ਨਰਵਾਲ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਨੀਮੂਨ ‘ਤੇ ਸੀ। ਸੈਲਾਨੀਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਮਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੀ ਘੋਰ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਦਰਦਨਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੇ ਮਾਰਚ 2000 ਵਿੱਚ ਚਿੱਟੀ ਸਿੰਘਪੁਰਾ ਦੇ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਤਾਜਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 35 ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਫਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਸਾਨੀਅਤ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਲੂੰਧਰੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਗਲੋਬਲ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਇਸ ਅਤਿ ਬੇਰਹਿਮ ਹਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਨਦੇਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਖੜ੍ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਦੁਖਾਂਤ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਿਲੀ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾਵਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਸਿੱਖ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਤੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਸੇਧ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਏਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਡੇ ਗੁਰੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ:
ਅਵਲਿ ਅਲਹ ਨੂਰੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਬੰਦੇ ||
ਏਕ ਨੂਰ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਕਉਨ ਭਲੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਦੇ ||
(ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ, ਅੰਗ 1349)
ਇਹ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਦਿਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇੱਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ – ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਉੱਚਾ ਜਾਂ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਦੀ ਏਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ, ਵੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਸੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਇਸ ਹਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਥੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਾਰਚ 2000 ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਏ ਚਿੱਟੀ ਸਿੰਘਪੁਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਰੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਇਨਸਾਫ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੱਚ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਨਸਾਫ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।ਆਓ ਆਪਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਈਏ – ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ, ਮਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਬਣਾਈਏ।
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਵਿਛੜੀਆਂ ਰੂਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਦੇਵੇ।
