Press Release – GSC announces honours for Sikh leaders

The board of directors and advisors unanimously agreed to honour Sikh organisations and or individuals recognising their exceptional service and contribution to the service/to the humanity and Sikh world. The online meeting held on April 15, 2022 agreed to bestow these accolades in accordance with the divine Hukam of Gurbani.

ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਈਐ ॥
ਤਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣੁ ਪਾਈਐ।।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਹ ਲੁਡਾਈਐ।।

Initiating the program, the president of GSC, Mr Amritpal Singh Sachdeva and the members of GSC announced their first awards to three different organisations that are well known for their exemplary contribution to the community as below:

  • Khalsa Aid International
  • United Sikhs
  • All India Pingalwara Charitable Society (Reg.) Amritsar

The above institutions are well known to work for the humanity following the tenets of Gurbani – The Guru Granth Sahib Ji (The living Guru of Sikhs). Their support and contribution in various walks of lives of all and across the world, does not require any introduction.

Explaining the need to highlight the generosity and the contribution of these organisations, the secretary Mr Gurpreet Singh told the media that GSC has decided to announce such accolades for anyone and any organisation that meets the strict criteria set by the GSC board on regular basis in the future. A six-member committee has been tasked to research and recommend the names to the GSC board for their consideration.

Global Sikh Council further reiterated that the community, preachers and the Sikh organisations must work together to spread Sikhism and serve humanity.
