The Global Sikh Council (GSC) expresses profound concern over the alarming increase in hate crimes targeting the Sikh community in India, particularly in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Haryana. This surge in violence reflects a dangerous trend of intolerance and discrimination that threatens the fabric of our diverse society.
Recent Incidents Highlighting the Urgent Need for Action:
In Kaithal, Haryana, a Sikh man was brutally assaulted and subjected to derogatory slurs.
A Punjab-origin Spanish couple was attacked by a mob in Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh.
A 13-year-old Sikh girl, the daughter of a Granthi, was horrifically gang-raped in Pilibhit District, Uttar Pradesh.
In Nurpur, Himachal Pradesh, locals vandalized the windshields of over eight cars bearing Punjab and Rajasthan license plates.
Multiple assaults on youths traveling to Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib and Gurudwara Hemkunt Sahib have been reported.
Call for Peace and Harmony:
The GSC believes that peace and harmony are essential for the prosperity of our nation. It is imperative to foster an environment of mutual respect and understanding among all communities. To achieve this, we call on the government, media, and civil society to take immediate, decisive, and strict action against perpetrators of hate crimes.
GSC Urges the Following Measures:
Public Appeal for Peace:
The government should issue a public appeal in leading newspapers, calling for peace and harmony among all communities.
Strict Legal Action:
Authorities should take strict legal action against those spreading hate messages and engaging in hate crimes. This includes directives to the Chief Secretaries of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand to ensure strict enforcement of laws.
Monitoring Social Media:
Enhance monitoring and regulation of social media platforms to prevent the spread of hate speech and misinformation.
Thorough Investigations:
All hate crimes should be referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for thorough investigation and prosecution.
The GSC remains committed to promoting peace, harmony, and mutual respect in our society. With collective effort and decisive action against the perpetrators of hate crimes, we can overcome the current challenges and build a more inclusive and harmonious nation.

ਗਲੋਬਲ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਂਸਲ (ਜੀਐਸਸੀ) ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼, ਉੱਤਰਾਖੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਫ਼ਰਤੀ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਿੰਤਾਜਨਕ ਵਾਧੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਹਿੰਸਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਵਾਧਾ ਅਸਹਿਣਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਖ਼ਤਰਨਾਕ ਰੁਝਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੇ ਤਾਣੇ-ਬਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਲੋੜ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ:
ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਦੇ ਕੈਥਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਬੇਰਹਿਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੁੱਟਮਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਮਾਨਜਨਕ ਗਾਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ।
ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼, ਡਲਹੌਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਸਪੈਨਿਸ਼ ਜੋੜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭੀੜ ਨੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਉੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਪੀਲੀਭੀਤ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ 13 ਸਾਲਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਲੜਕੀ,ਜੋ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਹੈ,ਨਾਲ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮੂਹਿਕ ਬਲਾਤਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਨੂਰਪੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ, ਸਥਾਨਕ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਾਇਸੈਂਸ ਪਲੇਟਾਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਅੱਠ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੰਡਸ਼ੀਲਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੰਨਤੋੜ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਨੀਕਰਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੇਮਕੁੰਟ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਕਈ ਹਮਲੇ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਸੂਚਨਾ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਭਾਵਨਾ ਲਈ ਅਪੀਲ:
ਜੀਐਸਸੀ ਦਾ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ਹਾਲੀ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਭਾਵਨਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਸੀ ਸਮਝਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ, ਮੀਡੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਵਲ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤੀ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਤੁਰੰਤ, ਨਿਰਣਾਇਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਜੀਐਸਸੀ ਹੇਠ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ:
1. ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਲਈ ਜਨਤਕ ਅਪੀਲ:
ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਅਖਬਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਜਨਤਕ ਅਪੀਲ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਭਾਵਨਾ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
2. ਸਖਤ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ:
ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਫੈਲਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਨਫ਼ਰਤੀ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਖੰਡ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਸਕੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਨੂੰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਖ਼ਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ।
3. ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ:
ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਭਰੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਅਤੇ ਗਲਤ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਫੈਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਵਰਗੇ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣਾ ਜਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।
4. ਪੂਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ:
ਸਾਰੇ ਨਫ਼ਰਤੀ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਕੱਦਮਾ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਬਿਊਰੋ (CBI) ਅਤੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਏਜੰਸੀ (NIA) ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਐਸਸੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ, ਸਦਭਾਵਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਸੀ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ। ਨਫ਼ਰਤੀ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸਮੂਹਿਕ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਣਾਇਕ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਨਾਲ, ਅਸੀਂ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਚੁਣੌਤੀਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੱਖਪਾਤ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਭਾਵਨਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
