A meeting of the representatives of the national Sikh organizations from USA, UK, Thailand and Australia was held on 28th Feb and 1stMarch 2014 in Sydney, Australia.

The aim of this meeting was to form an international level Sikh organization to deal with the pressing issues facing Sikhs globally. The objective and structure of the proposed international body was agreed to by consensus of all the representatives present.

Amongst the issues discussed, the representatives agreed that the following issues need immediate attention:

  1. Recommend its members to accept the 2003 Nanakshahi Calendar, with the correction of three dates as recommended by Sardar Purewal.
  2. To resolve the difficulty of availability of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the international Sikh organization will work towards free availability of Sri Guru Granth Sahib to Sikhs globally.
  3. As Halal meat is being served in most food outlets without the knowledge of the consumers, Sikhs should be made aware that it is their right to demand non-Halal meat.
  4. To take up the issue of attack on Darbar Sahib Amritsar and other Sikh Shrines and seek justice for the victims of 1984 massacre and punishment for the perpetrators who are roaming free.
